Lonar sarovar

sarovar means Lake. Lonar sarovar is famous in the world, beacause it is formed by meteorites. This is a 3rd largest crater in the world. Crator means a large bowl shape cavity in the ground typically caused by an impact of a meteorite.

A British officer J.E. Alexander invent this crator in 1823. It is made in besalt rock that means it has black surface. Surrounding area of the lake is cart water but the lake has salt water which is seven times Salty than ocean.

Lonar sarovar is situated in Buldhanda district (Vidarbha). Lonar Village is 90 km away From buldhana And the lake is Situated on the boundary line of village

Approx 50000 years ago, a meteorite cause the crator. The radious off the lake approx 1830 metre and the height is 150 metre deep.

According to ancient history, Lord Vishnu won the battle and killed Lonasur, so the place is called as ‘Lonar‘. There is also a temple at the place.

If You want to visit lonar, Lonar is well connected by roads and if You want to go via plane then Aurangabad is the nearest Airport From Lonar. Aurangabad is 141 km away from Lonar.
